AWAKENING: An integrative approach to the what, why and how of meditative practice

February 21, 2016 @ 2:30 pm - 5:15 pm

with Dr. William L. Mikulas and Dr. Michael Brant DeMaria

Sunday, February 21st, 2016, 1:00 p.m.

This engaging program will explore the concept of awakening from a cross-cultural point of view. These two psychologists and meditation teachers have been friends and colleagues for over 30 years and this is a rare opportunity to see them share their insights and practices together in a public forum.
Mikulas will be drawing from his new book Taming the Drunken Monkey: The Path to Mindfulness, Meditation and Increased Concentration. This instruction manual for the mind is a practical synthesis of the world’s most effective practices that each simultaneously improves biological health, psychological effectiveness and happiness, and personal/spiritual growth and awakening. Mikulas will discuss the basic points that are the foundation for the practices.
DeMaria will be drawing from his most recent book that is due out in 2016 Peace Within: Clear your mind, open your heart, embrace your soul and heal your life. This book is also the text for a new series of training programs of the same name that he will be sharing the details of during this program.
This very rare 3 hours experience will also include some of DeMaria’s live music from his 4 Grammy nominated albums and both of them leading some experiential hands on practices for participants.

Mikulas is Professor Emeritus at the University of West Florida. His professional work has involved integrating Western psychology with the world’s psychologies, health systems, and wisdom traditions.

DeMaria is a integrative psychologist, meditation teacher and yoga instructor, and 4-time Grammy® nominated musician. His work includes the use of music for healing and awakening.
